Glacier Photography Adventure
Friday Evening through Sunday Afternoon, May 30–June 1, 2008
Matanuska Glacier, $225 per person

Hal Gage, leads a two day workshop on the Matanuska Glacier (100 miles north of Anchorage). Together with noted nature photographer Carl Battreall, Gage and Battreall will lead a concentrated workshop on photographing the natural wonders of glaciers. Gage and Battreall have extensive backgrounds in B&W and color photography in both film and digital. Hal Gage has photographed at the Matanuska for a decade. The Matanuska was part of his first solo exhibition at the Anchorage Museum in 2004, Ice: a personal meditation which later traveled Alaska to venues around the state. This class is for all levels and abilities. Moderately difficult hiking will be involved, but no climbing or ropes.

Workshop covers composition, exposure and equipment techniques for photographing on glaciers and tips on the best places to photograph on the Matanuska Glacier. For those working with digital cameras critiques and discussion will follow the first day’s session at the lodge. Discussion will cover composition, digital photography tips and Abode Photoshop techniques with RAW files. Workshop includes two days of personal instruction, crampons and glacier instruction. Participants are responsible for transportation (car pooling may be available), park access fees ($15 per day), meals and lodging.

For registration or further information contact workshop leader Hal Gage via email at: workshop@halgage.com or by phone at: 272-4356.
